"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first..." 1 Thess. 4: 14-16
So I was studying my Bible, when I came across this familiar passage. I know what I believe about this passage, but I wanted to hear what other people thought about it.
There were many questions that came to mind as I read this passage, and I wanted to see how other people would answer them. However, as my friend would say, "I like good answers, but I like Scriptural answers better". So show me what you believe, with or without scriptural basis, but scripture would make it more interesting as a point of conversation.
Why would Jesus come back for his people if they are already in heaven after they die anyways?
If the dead go immediately to heaven, why are they "rising" from the dead?
When referring to death, why does Jesus call it sleep?
Who is the Archangel?
- What sequence of events happened before Jesus' second coming?
I'd love to see your answers!
